IBS Explained

Do you or someone you know struggle with IBS? You are not alone. There is so much to learn on this subject and different modalities that can be helpful for your journey. Join Just BE Kitchen and Dr. Jennifer Hooker of PrimeHealth Denver for a talk discussing irritable bowel syndrome. This even will cover topics from lifestyle factors on the gut, including stress, exercise, and diet. We will discuss normal gut function, and how that can go wrong and produce IBS symptoms or dysbiosis. Join us to learn about how to get help, what tests you may want to be familiar with, and actionable lifestyle changes you could try.

Jennifer Hooker is a dual board-certified and licensed physician assistant (PA). She is a certified functional medicine practitioner (IFMCP) through the Institute for Functional Medicine with advanced training in gut dysfunction, hormones, energy production, detoxification, cardiometabolic disease, and immune function.

Jennifer’s passion for Functional Medicine began after she was diagnosed with IBS and saw many conventional practitioners, who while having good intentions, did nothing to address the root cause of her symptoms. After many specialist visits and unnecessary tests, she continued to worsen until she discovered Functional Medicine. The Functional Medicine approach uncovered her SIBO, and changed her life, and her practice of medicine forever.

Prior to transitioning to Functional Medicine, Jennifer spent 15 years in conventional healthcare. She has worked in oncology, orthopedic surgery, and spent years in a conventional family practice office. Through her diverse career she has seen and treated patients from all walks of life.

Jennifer completed her physician assistant training and received her master’s degree in health sciences at South College, and her bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from Regis University. In her free time, she loves hiking, yoga and CrossFit.
